Early Tuesday, multiple loud explosions resonated through Kyiv as air defense systems responded to a missile alert, according to AFP journalists. The Ukrainian Air Force warned on Telegram that new ballistic missiles were en route to the city. Kyiv-based journalists confirmed that the assault combined drones and missiles targeting the capital. Kyiv has endured a sustained campaign of intensified Russian airstrikes around the clock for several weeks. On Monday, a woman was killed and six others were injured after a Russian drone struck the Kyiv Academy of Sciences, igniting a fire, per a preliminary statement from President Volodymyr Zelensky. Last week, President Zelensky urged Ukraine’s Western partners to increase military aid, particularly by providing additional U.S.-made Patriot interceptors capable of countering powerful ballistic missiles.
