CAPE TOWN, South Africa — At least 21 people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash in South Africa, according to the national traffic agency and local authorities on Monday.
The collision, involving two minibus taxis and another vehicle, occurred in the Western Cape Province between Prince Albert and Leeu-Gamka, approximately 380 kilometers east of Cape Town, the Road Traffic Management Corporation said in a post on X.
The crash on the N1 highway occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, said Muneera Allie, a spokesperson for Western Cape Mobility, the provincial transport department.
The department said several other people were seriously injured.
