BRUSSELS — The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Mohammed Al-Issa, met with leaders and prominent figures from the Belgian Muslim community in Brussels on Monday. During the meeting, Al-Issa, who also chairs the organization’s Association of Muslim Scholars, commended the Belgian Muslim community for their vital role in fostering social cohesion, coexistence, and mutual respect.
Al-Issa highlighted the critical importance of seeking religious rulings and guidance from trusted local scholars who are deeply familiar with the unique social contexts and particular circumstances of each country. He noted that those closest to the communities are best positioned to understand the local dynamics necessary when applying Islamic principles.
Drawing from recommendations of several high-level League conferences involving senior Muslim scholars, Al-Issa explained that religious guidance can vary depending on the specific time, place, and circumstances in which it is issued. He concluded by expressing the Muslim World League’s enthusiasm for the active participation of Belgian Muslim scholars in upcoming conferences and forums, whether focused on Islamic affairs or broader interfaith gatherings.
