Toss Namibia opt to bowl vs South Africa
Both South Africa and Namibia implemented strategic changes ahead of the second ODI in Windhoek, with Gerhard Erasmus maintaining his decision to bowl first. Namibia aims to recover from their rain-affected opening defeat, decided by the DLS method, as they look to leverage their home advantage. The team reintroduced Michael van Lingen, who recently returned from retirement and holds the second-highest run total in their ODI history, displacing 21-year-old Alex Busing-Volschenck. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton has been positioned at No. 6 for added firepower, while allrounder JJ Smit remains excluded.
On the bowling front, Namibia debuted 18-year-old seamer Waldo Smith, who previously played five T20Is, replacing Max Heingo. Smith joins Jack Brassell and Ruben Trumpelmann in the pace contingent.
South Africa, resting captain Bjorn Fortuin, appointed offspinner Prenelan Subrayen as captain and primary spinner. The squad omitted the Bosch brothers, introducing Eathan for Corbin Bosch and adding pace bowler Nqobani Mokoena. In the batting order, Matthew Breetzke replaces Rubin Hermann, with Dewald Brevis shifted to No. 5 and Jason Smith earning a recall at No. 6.
