National average price for diesel hits new record high amid Iran conflict

The current national average diesel price has reached an unheard‑of high of $5.85 as of September 4, shattering the previous record of $5.8159 set in June 2022, according to AAA.

AAA reports indicate the national average increased from $5.7832 earlier this week to $5.85 by Friday.

Three‑month figures placed the level at $5.3715, whereas one year prior it had settled near $3.7121.

“Diesel prices have surged since President Trump initiated hostilities with Iran,” noted Democratic Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona in a Thursday post.

“Diesel powers our supply chains and fuels farms and food production. While you may not personally operate a diesel engine, these elevated costs ultimately raise prices on everyday goods,” he added.
