High school students in Paris, Toulouse, and Lille have staged fresh demonstrations and blockades, demanding improved resources for their schools.
Footage from 1 October 2026 shows pupils gathering outside Henri IV and Lamartine high schools in Paris, setting fire to bins and clashing with police in Toulouse, while smashing bus shelters and withstanding tear gas in Lille as the protest movement spreads nationwide.
Nationwide, students protest underfunding, unsafe school buildings, and teacher shortages, confronting a strong police presence.
Students and staff warn that the movement is unlikely to cease until their demands are satisfied.
