The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded on Friday to Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, a pioneering South African jurist and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, for her efforts to advance peace and international law.
The Nobel committee noted that her work has helped “strengthen the institutions of international law.”
