Navy Blue has released his latest album, Sir Render. The project is narrated by the rapper’s cousin, the legendary late actor James Earl Jones, and features contributions from childhood friend Earl Sweatshirt, Armand Hammer, and Mike Shabb. Additionally, the track “Circa” includes a posthumous verse from Navy Blue’s mentor, the Brownsville lyricist Ka.
The Brooklyn-based artist, born Sage Elsesser, handled production on several tracks while collaborating with producers such as The Alchemist, Jason Wool, and Shungu. In a press statement, Elsesser explained the conceptual core of the project: “The album dives into psychology’s greatest hits—embracing the shadow self, accepting duality, and knowing, ‘I am my flaws as well as my strengths.’ Sir Render has to realize the only way to beat the shadow is to embrace it. To overcome this fear, he must meet it with love.”
Sir Render arrives as the follow-up to Elsesser’s 2025 release, The Sword & the Soaring. It follows the recent release of the standalone single “Ocean Light (Phase 1: Prelude),” which remains separate from the album’s official tracklist.
