WASHINGTON — The Navy has launched a new defense industrial base office to bolster the industrial supply chain and accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies within the fleet.
Andrew Magliochetti, former director of the Navy’s Office of Small Business Programs, will oversee the newly established Office of the Defense Industrial Base, as announced by Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao on Monday. In this role, Magliochetti will serve as the principal civilian advisor to the assistant secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, and Acquisition, focusing on managing the growth and stability of the Navy’s industrial supply chain.
“He will lead efforts to expand the domestic manufacturing base, address supply chain vulnerabilities, and integrate dual-use commercial technologies to enhance the lethality of the Navy-Marine Corps team,” Cao stated in a Monday release.
Magliochetti’s appointment aligns with President Donald Trump’s National Security Presidential Memorandum, which directed the Pentagon to restore capacity and competition within the maritime industrial base as part of expanding the naval force structure.
“I am deeply honored to serve as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for the Defense Industrial Base,” Magliochetti said in a statement. “An agile and secure industrial base is fundamental to our combat readiness. I am dedicated to accelerating the delivery of resilient supply chains and cutting-edge dual-use technologies directly to our warfighters, ensuring our Sailors and Marines are prepared for any high-end conflict.”
