Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed CNN on Tuesday concerning the U.S. sale of F-35 fighter jets to Turkey, following discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a press event in Ankara.
Netanyahu conveyed to CNN his apprehensions that the transaction might destabilize regional power dynamics.
Despite Trump’s existing rapport with Erdogan, he characterized Turkey as an unreliable ally for the United States.
When questioned about his disagreement with U.S. policy, Netanyahu stressed that even close allies may have divergent priorities.
He noted that both leaders remain aligned on critical issues, particularly the imperative for Iran to resolve its nuclear program via diplomatic means.
