Neve Campbell has confirmed her reprisal of the role Sidney Prescott for the upcoming installment, Scream 8, which remains in active development.
Despite the film not yet having a director attached, Campbell shared with the Associated Press that the project is progressing, stating, “Scream 8; that’s in the pipeline as well.”
She firmly committed to the role, adding, “I’ll be in it.”
Campbell has appeared in six of the seven films in the franchise, taking a break for the 2023 release Scream VI. Her return in Scream 7 earlier this year propelled the movie to the series’ biggest opening weekend with $97.2 million worldwide, and it ultimately became the highest-grossing entry with $208 million globally.
In Scream 7, Sidney Prescott is depicted as married and navigating a perilous situation where her daughter Tatum finds herself targeted by Ghostface. The film featured the return of franchise veterans Courteney Cox and Matthew Lillard.
Scream 8 is understood to be in development, with Lilla and Nora Zuckerman penning the screenplay. The writing duo recently served as showrunners for the Peacock series Poker Face and have previously contributed to acclaimed shows such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, Fringe, and Prodigal Son.
