On Thursday, New Mexico’s congressional representatives requested that Google and Apple refrain from labeling the state as “New America” on their mapping services, even if President Donald Trump were to request such a change.
Last week, President Trump suggested renaming New Mexico to “New America” in a series of social‑media posts; in response, the state’s congressional delegation urged the tech firms to publicly affirm that they will keep the name New Mexico on their maps.
