Millwall have finalised the signing of midfielder Mathis Servais from Belgian Pro League club KV Mechelen.
The 21‑year‑old will join the Lions on a long‑term contract for an undisclosed fee.
During the previous season, Servais made 34 appearances for Mechelen, scoring twice and helping the team finish fifth.
“We see him as a central midfielder – athletic, strong and comfortable playing progressively,” said Millwall director of football Steve Gallen.
Millwall have had Mathis on their radar for a year, following his move to KV Mechelen in the Belgian top flight. The club have observed his development both at Mechelen and with the Belgium Under‑21 side.
“As with any player arriving from abroad, the club will need to be patient while he acclimatises to the team, country and culture. However, the potential is exciting and the organisation is delighted to have secured his services.”
Servais has represented Belgium at age‑group levels up to the under‑21s and previously spent two years at SK Beveren, where he netted 10 goals in 62 appearances.
