Finn Allen, Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne and Tim Seifert have signed casual playing agreements with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for the 2026‑27 season, confirming their availability for the home white‑ball series against India in October and November. The deals give the quartet a clear pathway to retain their chances of selection for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Allen, Ferguson and Seifert previously held similar casual contracts, while fast‑bowler Milne has been added for the forthcoming 12‑month period starting 1 August.
Casual contracts with NZC enable players to balance international commitments with franchise cricket, ensuring they remain part of the national set‑up while pursuing club opportunities. All four players are specialist white‑ball cricketers, meaning they are unlikely to be considered for New Zealand’s scheduled Test matches against India, Australia and Sri Lanka.
“We’re delighted to add Finn, Lockie, Adam and Tim to our contracting programme for the next period,” said selector Gavin Larsen. “There’s no question about the talent and match‑winning ability all four bring, and we’ve seen them perform for the Blackcaps on many occasions.
“Their skills are in demand around the world, and we see that as a positive because they can broaden their experience and bring those insights back to our environment.”
“There’s no secret that the inbound India mega‑tour is of critical importance to NZC on and off the field,” Larsen added. “The tour features ten white‑ball games over 25 days, followed immediately by a block of six Tests. We’ll need a deep squad, particularly in the pace‑bowling department, to be at our best across the different series.”
Milne last represented New Zealand in mid‑2025 and missed this year’s T20 World Cup through injury. None of the quartet are currently part of the ODI squad touring the West Indies; all are engaged in the MLC.
“My passion and motivation to play for the Blackcaps and represent our country remains as strong as ever,” Seifert said. “The casual contract offers the flexibility to compete in various leagues worldwide while staying integrated with the Blackcaps programme.
“The upcoming India tour to New Zealand is going to be an exciting occasion, and I’m keen to be involved. With two ICC white‑ball World Cups on the horizon, there’s plenty of cricket to look forward to.”
