Newcastle United Prepare Summer Move for Yoane Wissa Amid Striker Rebuild]
Newcastle United are expected to offload Yoane Wissa this summer as they look to cut their losses on the underperforming forward, according to recent reports.
The Magpies are believed to be ready to sell the 29-year-old for approximately £15m, representing a significant loss on their original investment. Wissa joined Newcastle from Brentford in September 2025 after the Bees rejected an initial £40m offer, eventually settling on a deal that saw the striker move to Tyneside.
Despite showing promise at Brentford with 19 Premier League goals during the 2024/25 season and 45 league goals across his tenure there, Wissa has struggled to replicate that form in northeast England. In his single season with Newcastle, he managed just one goal and one assist in 19 Premier League appearances, often appearing as a substitute rather than a regular starter.
Newcastle’s decision to move on from Wissa appears driven by their need to rebuild their attack following a disappointing campaign. The club’s budget has reportedly been boosted by the £70m sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, with funds expected to be reinvested in new signings.
While Wissa remains a capable forward, Newcastle are understood to be seeking a striker who can truly lead their line or elevate their attacking options. His departure would allow the club to redirect resources toward a more impactful addition to their squad.
