Lamine Yamal has continued to gather acclaim from renowned football figures, with the most recent endorsement coming from a player familiar with unforgettable seasons. The Barcelona winger’s outstanding campaign start has prompted comparisons with some of the most exceptional individual performances of the past decade.
Neymar, now with Santos, shared an Instagram story post juxtaposing Yamal’s current statistics with his own from the 2017/18 season at Paris Saint-Germain. He tagged the Spanish winger with a brief caption stating “Best in the world”. The post highlights top average performance ratings across major leagues since the 2015/16 season.
Yamal ranks second in this period, averaging 8.61 across ten matches this season, with eight goals and nine assists to his name.
Neymar remains atop the list with 8.81 from his 2017/18 PSG campaign, featuring 25 goals and 16 assists in 27 appearances. The top five concludes with Lionel Messi, who appears three times via his La Liga seasons: 8.52 in 2018/19, 8.40 in 2017/18, and 8.39 in 2015/16.

Lamine Yamal and Raphinha Propel Barcelona to Historic Beginnings
Lamine Yamal has been the catalyst for Barcelona’s flawless start to the season. The winger has scored eight goals and delivered nine assists in ten matches across all competitions, accumulating 851 minutes of playtime.
Raphinha has been equally influential. The Brazilian forward has 14 goals and three assists in eight appearances. He missed Barcelona’s last two matches against Getafe and Galatasaray due to thigh issues, but his contributions rank among Europe’s best.
Their efforts have propelled Barcelona to a perfect start, winning all ten official fixtures this season—eight in LaLiga and two in the Champions League—scoring 43 goals and conceding nine. Statistician Mister Chip notes this marks a historic achievement for the Blaugrana, who had not begun a campaign with 10 consecutive wins since the 1923-24 season, 102 years ago.
As the season progresses, Barcelona must address sustainability concerns. Raphinha’s recovery and Yamal’s continued excellence will be critical as Hansi Flick’s side aims to extend its exceptional start.
