“We are aware of the matter and the club has been in contact with the league,” an NFL spokesperson told PFT via email. “We have no further comment at this time.”
Even if criminal charges are not pursued, the league can still examine the incident under its Personal Conduct Policy. Should the league determine that the policy was breached, disciplinary action may be taken.
The NFL has disciplined players in the past without criminal charges. A key factor often hinges on whether the alleged victim is willing to cooperate, as the league lacks subpoena power to compel testimony. The victim’s willingness—or lack thereof—can significantly influence the league’s ability to establish a policy violation.
