SEOUL, South Korea — South Korea’s military reported Saturday that North Korea fired at least one projectile toward its eastern waters.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff did not immediately specify whether the weapon was a ballistic missile or another type of system.
The launch comes amid escalating tensions following land mine explosions last month that wounded three South Korean soldiers. Both Seoul and the U.S.-led U.N. Command have attributed the blasts to North Korean mines.
