A powerful nor’easter bringing strong winds, heavy rain, and flooding along the East Coast prompted festival organizers to cancel Friday’s performances at Oceans Calling.
Among the acts that were canceled were the Dave Matthews Band, Hootie and the Blowfish, Ludacris, Yellowcard, Liz Phair, Shaggy, O.A.R., and several others.
In a statement posted to the festival’s website, organizers explained that the week’s severe weather and beach erosion at the venue made it impossible to complete the build safely in time for Friday.
The organizers emphasized, “The safety of our fans, artists, crew, and community must come first.” They announced that one‑day tickets for Friday and 33 percent of three‑day tickets bought directly through Front Gate Tickets will be automatically refunded within 30 days to the original payment method.
Saturday and Sunday’s performances remain on schedule. “We are working very hard to bring the show to the remainder of the weekend and are hopeful that conditions improve,” the festival organizers said.
