Michael Johnston Previews Bold New Queer Role Following Breakthrough Success

<em>Obsession</em> star, who identifies as openly gay, recently hinted at an upcoming part set within “a truly remarkable queer narrative” that features a charged intimate scene for LGBTQ audiences.

“My future holds an incredibly queer story, and I’m thrilled to step into it with a memorable steamy moment,” Johnston shared with <em>Attitude</em>.

After the achievement of <em>Obsession</em>, Johnston remarked that he can now decide the direction of his career, stating he is definitely anticipating an intentional queer performance with depth and significance.

Reflecting on his earlier years following the <em>Teen Wolf</em> series (2015–2017), Johnston explained that while he hadn’t fully embraced his sexuality at that time, authentically portraying himself opened his career—so much so that followers thanked him publicly and reported personal breakthroughs, such as coming out to family members. This formative experience deepened his commitment to purposeful storytelling moving forward.

“The courage it took to create something vulnerable resonated deeply; seeing the positive impact I caused—empowering strangers to embrace their identity—is profoundly rewarding. That growth informs everything I pursue now,” he added. “Perhaps even writing the script myself.”
