Nvidia, Tesla, Apple and Microsoft are among dozens of U.S. equities poised to become tradable around the clock on a new blockchain-based exchange operated jointly by crypto platform OKX and the owner of the New York Stock Exchange.
A regulatory submission from OKXICE, a joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, itemized more than 60 securities slated for tokenized offering and outlined the operational framework of the prospective market.
The proposed roster encompasses Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet, as well as crypto-linked firms Coinbase, Circle, Robinhood, MicroStrategy and Securitize. JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Walmart, Netflix, Reddit and Boeing are also included in the list.
However, inclusion in the filing does not guarantee that every listed security will trade on the platform, as issuers can object to their shares being included during a 30-day window. Cerebras, for instance, lodged an objection to its inclusion, according to the filing.
“No symbol is a given,” TD Securities analysts wrote in a report on Monday.
For investors, the most straightforward way to understand tokenization is to picture a familiar stock represented by a digital token that can be bought and sold on a blockchain.
