Olivia Rodrigo has released a new remix of her hit track “Expectations,” featuring guest vocals from fellow artist Chappell Roan. The collaboration arrives months after Rodrigo’s third studio album gained critical acclaim, with “Expectations” standing out as a fan favorite.
The remix stays true to the original’s high-energy ’80s-inspired sound, with Roan lending her vocals to the second verse and joining Rodrigo on the chorus. The track also includes Roan’s playful ad-libs, including a memorable line about “not kissing no boy.” While not a complete reworking, the addition of Roan’s voice gives the song a fresh dynamic.
A new music video accompanies the remix, directed by Bardia Zeinali. The video features a star-studded cast including David Byrne, who plays Johnny Johnson, the host of vintage-style game shows reminiscent of classics like The Dating Game and Family Feud. Both Rodrigo and Roan showcase their versatility by playing multiple characters throughout the video.
Rodrigo and Roan have a long-standing friendship in the music industry. Roan previously opened several shows during Rodrigo’s early tours, and the two have collaborated on various projects, including performances during Rodrigo’s Guts Tour. Their creative partnership continues to evolve with this latest musical venture.
