One man dead after bus and two cars collide in Victoria’s Yarra Ranges

A man died and several others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision involving a bus carrying 18 people in Victoria’s Yarra Ranges.

Emergency services responded to reports of a three-vehicle crash, including a commercial bus, on the Melba Highway at Glenburn at about 2:40pm.

The driver of one car died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Police said they believed 18 people were on the bus, including the driver. Paramedics assessed all 21 patients at the scene and transported several bus passengers to hospital.

A teenage boy was airlifted to hospital in serious condition, while a man in his 50s was taken there with serious injuries. A teenage girl and teenage boy were transported with injuries that were not life-threatening.

A spokesperson for bus operator Mee’s Bus Lines described the incident as “pretty devastating” and said the team was “considerably upset by what’s occurred”.

The company said it had limited information about the incident and was assisting authorities with their investigation.

The bus was a scheduled service travelling from Mansfield to Melbourne and departed at 1pm, according to the company.
