Open Mike Eagle and Kenny Segal Announce Collaborative Full-Length Album ‘Doomed!’

Longtime collaborators and close friends Open Mike Eagle and Kenny Segal have officially joined forces for a full-length studio album. Titled Doomed!, the project is scheduled for release on August 14 via Billy Woods’ Backwoodz label. The duo has unveiled the album’s lead single, “Unfinished Concrete Initials,” which features Hemlock Ernst (Samuel T. Herring of Future Islands).

In a recent statement, the Los Angeles-based rapper explained the evolution of their partnership: “In recent years, Kenny made it very clear that he wasn’t trying to keep having one or two beats on my projects; he wanted to build something.” Eagle added, “Every one of Kenny’s beats is a chunk of ore from a different comet. I used each one as a canvas to paint my impression of a dead world.”

This release marks Open Mike Eagle’s fourth consecutive year of album output, following last July’s Neighborhood Gods Unlimited. Meanwhile, Kenny Segal’s most recent work includes the 2025 collaboration with R.A.P. Ferreira, The Night Green Side of It.
