Ahead of their Saturday matchup with UCLA, the Oregon Ducks appeared preoccupied with the wrong Los Angeles rival.

Just before kickoff against the No. 21‑ranked Bruins, the No. 13‑ranked Ducks’ cheer and dance squad rolled out a Trojan‑horse replica onto the field.

The prop stayed on the field for a few moments as excerpts from Christopher Nolan’s *The Odyssey* played over Autzen Stadium’s speakers.

Shortly thereafter, the Oregon duck mascot leapt from the horse’s rear, echoing the famous siege of Troy depicted in the film.

The stunt would have been fitting had Oregon been preparing to meet the USC Trojans, but that matchup occurred two weeks earlier.

Instead, they faced UCLA and fell to the Bruins 17‑15.

Clips of the stunt quickly spread online, with many users mocking Oregon for mistiming the jab—coming two weeks after their victory over USC—and then losing to Bruins.

With the loss, Oregon’s record slips to 3‑2, leaving them on the fringe of the College Football Playoff conversation.

Perhaps the duck mascot would have been better off remaining inside the Trojan horse—or skipping the stunt altogether.
