The Gaza Government Media Office reported that over 21,500 children, including 1,022 infants, have died since the war started on October 7, 2023, marking the conflict’s 1,000th day.
International organizations continue to warn of a deteriorating humanitarian situation and an increasing civilian death toll.
According to the office’s figures, the Palestinian death toll has reached 73,066, with 173,514 injured—over 44,500 of them children. Approximately 9,500 Palestinians are still missing and presumed to be buried under rubble.
The office also noted that over 90 % of buildings in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed, and roughly 80 % of the territory is currently under Israeli control, according to its data.
Separately, UNICEF reported that more than 11,000 children have sustained life‑changing injuries, including as many as 4,000 limb amputations, many performed under harsh medical conditions.
