Overpass and Nieve Ella Unveil Reimagined Version of ‘Fall In Love’

Overpass have collaborated with Nieve Ella on a reimagined version of their fan-favourite track, ‘Fall In Love’.

The original track featured on the Birmingham indie band’s debut album, ‘Elsewhere, Always’, which debuted in June and peaked at Number Five on the UK Albums Chart.

For the new rendition, Ella has rewritten the second verse, shifting the narrative from Max Newbold’s singular account of a relationship ending into a dialogue between two distinct perspectives.

Her vocal serves as a counterpoint to Newbold’s delivery, culminating in a harmonious blend towards the track’s conclusion.

“Nieve is an artist we’ve admired since the band’s inception,” Newbold stated. “Hailing from the Midlands, it’s been incredible to grow together and reach similar milestones.”

He added, “When we envisioned a featured artist on an album track, Nieve was our first choice. We were eager to rewrite the second verse of ‘Fall In Love’ to offer a fresh perspective on its meaning.”

“Nieve’s input added an extra dimension to the song, and we’re thrilled for listeners to hear it.”

The pair previously debuted their collaboration when Ella joined Overpass on stage at Reading Festival last month.

Ella noted the collaboration felt deeply personal due to her connection to the song’s subject matter.

“Having my part on ‘Fall In Love’ is incredibly special to me, as I deeply resonate with its meaning,” she explained. “Being young and in love can be complicated when you are constantly on the move.”

She added, “Overpass is a band I’ve always admired, so it’s a privilege to be part of such a wonderful group of people.”

Speaking to NME backstage at Mad Cool in July, Overpass said the response to ‘Elsewhere, Always’ had exceeded their expectations.

“We’ve played several overseas festivals, and since we’re still new to this market, audiences don’t always know the lyrics,” bassist India Armstrong said. “However, it’s been fantastic to see people so excited. In the UK, it’s been especially meaningful.”

The band also revealed they have already begun writing new material, with their cover of Harry Styles’ ‘American Girls’ inspiring them to step outside their usual songwriting habits.

Their sold-out autumn UK and Ireland headline tour begins in Belfast on October 23, and they have announced their largest headline run to date for April 2027, featuring shows at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town and Nottingham’s Rock City.

Ella, meanwhile, will release her debut album, ‘How Long Will It Take?’, on October 16.

Speaking to NME about the record this summer, she described it as an exploration of “growing and learning that nothing is really linear,” adding that the process had been “like therapy” for her.
