Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Bangladeshi counterpart, Salahuddin Ahmed, have pledged to enhance cooperation in combating cybercrime and online fraud, according to a statement released by the Pakistani interior ministry on Friday.
The two ministers met in New York, where they also agreed to broaden collaboration across areas of mutual interest, the ministry reported on the social media platform X.
During the discussions, the ministers focused on establishing training and exchange programs for law enforcement officers.
The meeting also covered the US‑Iran conflict and the current situation in the Middle East. Salahuddin Ahmed praised Pakistan’s “constructive role” in promoting peace, while Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the contributions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces/Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir to regional stability.
“We must seize new opportunities to further strengthen our mutual relations,” Naqvi concluded.
Naqvi is currently in the United States, representing Pakistan at the UN summit held on July 7‑8. The event brought together interior ministers, police chiefs, and senior law enforcement officials to address peace, security, and enhanced cooperation against transnational crime.
On the sidelines of the summit, Naqvi met with UN Secretary‑General Antonio Guterres, who commended Pakistan’s peace‑promoting initiatives. Additionally, Naqvi held discussions with his Chinese, Russian, and Sri Lankan counterparts.
