Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Economic and Strategic Partnership

The Investment Minister, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing economic collaboration with Saudi Arabia during a meeting this week, highlighting shared goals to promote investment opportunities and deepen bilateral ties.

Saudi Arabia is recognized as a key regional partner, having consistently supported Pakistan’s economic growth through financial aid and investment initiatives. Both nations have prioritized expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation in recent years.

As part of an agreement finalized in October 2025 during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Riyadh, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia established a framework to bolster trade and investment. In 2024, business entities from both countries signed 34 memoranda of understanding valued at $2.8 billion across multiple sectors.

Sheikh hosted a delegation from the Saudi Investment Forum in Islamabad on Friday. The forum, which has consolidated its operations into a single platform with over 400 participating businesses, aims to facilitate investment exchanges between the two countries.

Addressing the delegation, Sheikh emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to nurturing its historic relationship with Saudi Arabia, particularly in economic and investment domains. He noted that the Government of Pakistan will actively support Saudi investors through the Board of Investment (BOI).

The minister assured the delegation that the BOI would streamline investment processes, identify viable opportunities, and coordinate with relevant authorities to address operational challenges. Sheikh also highlighted Pakistan’s diverse investment potential in sectors such as agriculture, information technology, mining, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, logistics, food processing, and tourism.

He encouraged Saudi investors to explore these opportunities, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to providing comprehensive support for legitimate business ventures.

Recent developments also include strengthened defense collaboration. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement this month, stipulating mutual defense obligations in the event of an attack.
