Pakistan sealed the three‑match T20I series against Sri Lanka with a dominant 82‑run victory in the second match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 11 October 2026. The win gave them a 2‑0 series lead with one game remaining and marked captain Sahibzada Farhan’s first series triumph in charge. Pakistan had already taken a 1‑0 advantage by winning the opener on Friday, 9 October.
Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that backfired. Pakistan made one change, bringing Salman Mirza in to replace Razaullah. Kusal Mendis’ side could not contain Pakistan’s top order, who batted authoritatively over their 20 overs. The hosts finished on 215/3, while Sri Lanka were bowled out for 133/7, falling 82 runs short.
How Pakistan posted 215/3 against Sri Lanka?
Maaz Sadaqat was the architect of Pakistan’s innings, striking 96 runs off 51 balls. He smashed six fours and seven sixes, delivering one of the most destructive knocks of the series and accelerating the scoring rate. Sadaqat fell four runs short of a maiden T20I century, but his onslaught set an imposing target.
Opening partner Sahibzada Farhan also fired, making 73 off 44 deliveries. He added four boundaries and five sixes, complementing Sadaqat’s aggression. Their opening partnership pressured Sri Lanka’s bowling, laying the foundation for Pakistan’s imposing total of 215/3.
How Pakistan’s bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 133/7?
Mohammad Imran led the bowling with a tight spell, claiming three wickets while conceding just 11 runs in four overs (economy 2.75). His control with the new ball and through the middle overs set the tone for a disciplined performance.
Salman Mirza, returning to the XI, also made an impact with the ball, taking two wickets for 28 runs in three overs. The Sri Lankan top and middle order struggled to build partnerships against Pakistan’s varied attack.
Sri Lanka’s lower order showed fight in the closing stages. Chamindu Wickramasinghe scored 29 off 24 balls, and Maheesh Theekshana remained unbeaten on 32 from 26 deliveries. Despite these efforts, earlier batsmen failed to forge substantial partnerships, and the side was eventually dismissed for 133/7, handing Pakistan a comprehensive series win.
