September 04, 2026 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has announced a strategic partnership with the United Kingdom’s MOBILIST programme, aimed at unlocking greater private investment in Pakistan’s sustainable development and climate transition through exchange-listed products.
MOBILIST is recognized as a unique development finance programme that invests in listed products on public markets to mobilize private capital into emerging markets and developing economies, supporting sustainable development outcomes.
In addition to investment, the programme conducts research to deepen understanding of capital mobilization through public markets, with the goal of encouraging other investors and market participants to pursue similar transactions, according to a press release.
Under this partnership, MOBILIST will engage with PSX’s network of issuers and market intermediaries in Pakistan to identify products eligible for support.
The programme offers a combination of equity capital, technical assistance, and advisory services to back Pakistan’s initial public offerings (IPOs) and the development of new listed products.
Alison Blackburne, Deputy High Commissioner Karachi, expressed pride over the UK’s partnership with PSX to mobilize private investment towards businesses addressing climate and development challenges in emerging markets such as Pakistan.
She cited the Parwaaz Green Action Bond as a compelling example of how innovative development finance can tap into public markets to attract private capital, describing this approach as essential to drawing investment that supports growth and development for Pakistan’s economy and its trade and investment partners, including the UK.
Farrukh H. Sabzwari, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PSX, said the exchange was pleased to partner with MOBILIST to help businesses access Pakistan’s capital market.
He noted that eligible businesses would benefit from equity investment, technical assistance, advisory services, and enhanced visibility as they progress toward listing on the exchange.
Sabzwari further characterized the collaboration as a significant step toward bringing more sustainable businesses into the public market and creating greater opportunities for them to raise capital.
He added that the partnership would empower local businesses to advance projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and net-zero commitments, while leveraging the capital market to drive sustainable growth and contribute to Pakistan’s broader sustainability agenda.
