The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained under pressure on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index declining 481.36 points, or 0.29 percent, to settle at 168,155.49 points. This compares to the previous session’s close of 168,636.85 points.
Trading activity in the ready market saw volume dip to 493.957 million shares from 548.381 million shares a day earlier, though the traded value edged higher to Rs17.491 billion from Rs17.054 billion. Total market capitalization contracted to Rs18.726 trillion, down from Rs18.776 trillion.
Market breadth was decidedly negative: of the 494 companies that traded, 321 closed in the red, 128 advanced, and 45 ended unchanged. F. Nat. Equities topped the volume leaderboard with 42.509 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom (40.081 million) and D.S. Industries Limited (29.510 million).
Among notable gainers, First Imrooz Modaraba jumped Rs28.69 to close at Rs315.63, while Ellcot Spinning Mills Limited rose Rs14.20 to Rs210.48. On the downside, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited led decliners, dropping Rs118.11 to Rs8,722.89, and Nestle Pakistan Limited fell Rs93.53 to Rs7,014.86.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover fell to 94.042 million shares valued at Rs5.370 billion, compared with 135.548 million shares worth Rs5.408 billion in the prior session. Of the 295 DFC counters traded, 256 declined, 35 advanced, and four were unchanged.
