ISLAMABAD, September 9 (APP): The benchmark KSE‑100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained bearish on Wednesday, shedding 698.56 points – a 0.40% decline – to settle at 171,943.60 points, down from the prior session’s close of 172,642.16 points.
Trading volume on the ready market fell to 477.674 million shares, versus 722.624 million shares in the previous session. The total value of trades declined to Rs 22.637 billion, down from Rs 27.942 billion.
Market capitalisation slipped to Rs 19.233 trillion, down from Rs 19.295 trillion a day earlier.
Among the 492 companies traded on the ready market, 162 advanced, 293 declined, and 37 were unchanged, underscoring a broadly bearish market sentiment.
Cnergyico PK topped the volume rankings with 65.824 million shares, followed by Aisha Steel Mill (28.558 million shares) and Thatta Cement (25.595 million shares).
Among the gainers, PIA Holding Company Limited B surged Rs 568.02 to close at Rs 17,450.00, while Pakistan Services Limited rose Rs 98.02 to settle at Rs 1,078.25.
Among the decliners, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited fell Rs 349.50 to Rs 24,500.00, and Buxly Paints Limited dropped Rs 114.48 to Rs 1,030.36.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover was 131.978 million shares worth Rs 7.107 billion, down from 176.266 million shares valued at Rs 8.304 billion in the previous session.
Of the 299 companies traded in the DFC market, 81 rose, 214 fell, and 4 were unchanged.
