ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military reported on Sunday that it successfully repelled an infiltration attempt from Afghanistan, eliminating 12 militants and members of the Afghan Taliban in a cross-border confrontation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani military’s media division, the incident occurred in the Khurram district of the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The engagement followed an attempt by a group of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants to cross into Pakistan from across the border, allegedly supported by Afghan Taliban posts that opened fire on Pakistani forces. In the exchange, a Pakistani soldier was also killed.
