On Sunday, the Nottingham Panthers and Dundee Stars each secured pre-season victories.
A packed Motorpoint Arena watched as Nottingham defeated Ducs d’Angers 4‑2 in the Panthers’ opening pre‑season match.
The French visitors, playing their second game of the weekend against Motorpoint Elite League opposition, opened the scoring when former Cardiff forward Reid Duke found the net within 80 seconds. Max Grondin replied for Nottingham at the 12:58 mark to tie the game.
Nottingham regained the lead at 28:34 as Grondin slid the puck past the goal line; a subsequent challenge by former Panthers head coach Jonathan Paredes was denied.
Just 1:24 into the third period, Chase Pearson finished off a crisp pass from Zach O’Brien to make it 3‑1, but Jordan Mugnier reduced the deficit with a close‑range deflection at 42:54.
Miika Pitkänen sealed the win with an empty‑net goal with 69 seconds left on the clock.
In Glasgow, the Clan and Dundee Stars remained scoreless after 40 minutes, setting up a decisive final period. Both sides turned to their backup goaltenders for the last 20 minutes, with Dan Norton and Dominick Jaglar taking over between the pipes.
Dundee exploded for three goals in just over five minutes to claim the win. Former Clan forward Gary Haden broke the deadlock at 51:15, and captain Travis Ewanyk extended the lead to two at 54:03.
Jonathan McBean completed the scoring at 56:22, giving Scott Dutertre a shutout in his debut as Dundee’s head coach.
