Adam Pearce, who previously served as General Manager of WWE Raw, has been appointed acting General Manager of Friday Night SmackDown following Nick Aldis’s temporary suspension after an altercation with Gunther. In a recently released preview video, Aldis confirmed that Pearce will assume the acting GM responsibilities for the forthcoming SmackDown broadcast.
Pearce clarified that, given the recent events involving Aldis and Gunther, he will once again occupy the captain’s chair for this week’s episode. He remarked, “After everything that transpired on last week’s broadcast, I will once again serve as Acting SmackDown General Manager and address the numerous matters at hand.”
During the previous SmackDown broadcast, the show concluded with Gunther attacking Aldis and applying a Sleeper Hold. Cody Rhodes subsequently intervened to rescue Aldis as the program drew to a close.
The upcoming SmackDown event will take place at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York, and will be broadcast live on USA Network beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
