Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has recently been linked with clubs such as Barcelona.
The 26‑year‑old right back signed a long‑term contract with the North London club and said he is delighted, thanking the club for its support and recognition of his performances.
“I am very happy at Spurs because they have supported me,” he said, citing SportWitness.
“They have given me a renewal that I believe I have earned, and I am very happy about it.”
“I am currently focused on the national team, my club, and contract renewal. I remain very happy, as previously stated, and I am grateful for everything they have provided.”
The Spanish international has been outstanding in the Premier League and is regarded as one of Europe’s top right‑backs, delivering impressive performances for Spain at the World Cup.
It is unsurprising that Barcelona has expressed interest; the Spanish champions seek added quality on the flanks, and Porro could be a valuable signing. However, his contract runs until 2031, making a transfer difficult for Barcelona and requiring a substantial fee.
Nevertheless, Porro says a player’s future can be uncertain and he is unsure of where his career will lead.
“Regarding comments about Barcelona, people speak in the best interests of their clubs.”
“I am presently focused on the national team and Tottenham. We’ll see what happens tomorrow, as anything can occur in football.”
It is clear that the 26‑year‑old is not ruling out a near‑term departure, yet Tottenham hope to retain a player of his caliber for the foreseeable future.
