One of the most acclaimed Japanese role‑playing games ever created will become available on Xbox Game Pass on June 9. The service already offers a strong library of RPGs, including recent additions such as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. After the recent inclusion of Final Fantasy VI, another classic joins the roster.
Microsoft announced the first wave of June additions on the official Xbox Wire blog, highlighting nine new titles. While some titles simply move to the Premium tier, others are day‑one releases. The standout is a game that first launched over six years ago.
As part of the Wave 1 June updates, Persona 5 Royal becomes playable for Xbox Game Pass members on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and via cloud gaming. The title is accessible to Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass subscribers; only the Essential tier is excluded.
If you are on the Essential tier, you’ll need to upgrade—temporarily if you wish—to access the game. The upgrade is likely worthwhile, as Persona 5 Royal is widely regarded as one of the best modern JRPGs. This “Royal” edition expands the original 2017 Western release with all DLC, additional playable characters, and an extended storyline.
Persona 5 Royal is a substantial title—completing the main story can easily exceed 100 hours, with additional side content extending playtime further. Even veteran players may find new reasons to revisit the game, thanks to the added content and refined mechanics.
Anyone who hasn’t experienced this JRPG yet should add it to their watchlist, and those familiar with the original will likely appreciate the expanded experience. It’s a strong addition to Xbox Game Pass’s growing library of high‑quality role‑playing games.
