Americans’ attitudes toward China have become somewhat more favorable in recent years, according to a Pew Research Center survey released as President Donald Trump prepares to host Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Washington.
The share of U.S. adults who view China positively rose to 19 percent this year, up from 11 percent in 2021. Still, most Americans continue to hold an unfavorable view of China, with 54 percent expressing negative opinions this year.
