COPENHAGEN, Denmark — A Danish police officer and two other individuals were shot in a Friday incident, including the suspected perpetrator, according to authorities.
The incident occurred in Nørresundby, located in the North Jutland region of northern Denmark, with serious injuries reported, as stated by Søren Pejtersen, a spokesperson for the North Jutland police, in a Facebook post.
Police responded to a reported fire in an industrial area of Nørresundby at 1:39 p.m. (1139 GMT), as reported by Danish broadcaster DR.
Upon arrival, officers encountered gunfire and returned fire. It remains unclear if the police officer was shot by the suspect or injured during crossfire, and the identity of the third injured individual is also unknown.
The shooting concluded by 3 p.m. (1300 GMT), though the investigation continues, DR reported.
