Pope Leo XIV underwent a 90-minute surgical procedure on Tuesday to remove a cancerous growth from his right lung. According to the Vatican, the Pope “woke up normally” following the operation. To ensure a comprehensive removal, the lower lobe of the right lung was extracted. A Vatican source indicated that additional tests are being conducted to assess whether the cancer has metastasized. France 24’s Seema Gupta reports from Rome.
