While Glastonbury is taking a break this year, we can imagine what the conditions would have been like had the festival proceeded. Here is a look at the hypothetical weather for the 2026 window.

Fans must now wait until 2027 for the return of the festival, as this summer serves as a fallow year. The next official edition is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, June 23 to Sunday, June 27, 2027.

Glastonbury typically observes a fallow year every five years to allow the farmland to recover. This practice is rooted in traditional agriculture, allowing the soil to replenish essential nutrients and improve quality for cattle grazing.

While the last scheduled fallow year was in 2018, the event also faced two consecutive cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to the global pandemic.

These breaks also benefit the local community in Pilton. Discussing the concept in The Glastonbury Free Press, Michael Eavis explained: “I invented those in the ’80s, because it was very stressful with the licence, the police, the village, the press and the council.”

“I thought, ‘We’ll give them all a break so they’ve got nothing to complain about for a bit!’ And of course, the farm gets a rest. It was a really good idea. I think we’ll be ready for a break next year!”

Had the event occurred, it would have run from Thursday, June 24 to Sunday, June 28, adhering to its traditional placement on the last full weekend of June.

Based on recent data, the weekend would have been predominantly dry and sunny. According to the BBC Weather forecast (updated 12:00, Wednesday June 17), the conditions would have been as follows:

Thursday June 25: Sunny with a gentle breeze throughout the day. Highs of 25°C, dropping to 14°C in the evening.

Friday June 26: A slight chance of morning showers, otherwise sunny with a light breeze. Temperatures ranging from 15 to 25°C.

Saturday June 27: Sunny intervals and a moderate breeze. Periods of overcast skies, with warm temperatures between 15 and 24°C.

Sunday June 28: A slight chance of rain until midday, giving way to sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures between 14 and 24°C.

This forecast aligns with the trend of recent festivals, avoiding the record-breaking heat of 2017 or the notorious mudslides of 2016.

The 2025 event at Worthy Farm featured headliners The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo on the iconic Pyramid Stage, alongside performances from Charli XCX, Wolf Alice, Rod Stewart, Doechii, and Kneecap.

Looking toward Glastonbury 2027, bookmakers are already speculating on future headliners, with names like Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, and Little Simz circulating.

There are also rumors regarding the Rolling Stones; Mick Jagger recently discussed the possibility of a new tour and expressed hope for several shows in the coming year.
