President Donald Trump is inaugurating a series of mixed‑martial‑arts bouts at the White House on Sunday, an unprecedented event designed to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary as well as the president’s 80th birthday. The South Lawn has been converted into a 4,300‑seat arena, complete with an eight‑sided cage under a 92‑foot canopy called “the Claw,” which looms high above the executive mansion. The event is being organized by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, whose CEO is a close ally of the president, Dana White.
