Lhuan-dre Pretorius has broken Chris Gayle’s record for the highest score in a men’s T20 match with an unbeaten 188 in a domestic fixture in South Africa.
The striker, 20 years old, hit 13 sixes and 15 fours off 79 deliveries, propelling Titans to 267-3 as the Knights fell short for 143.
His performance surpassed the previous mark set by Gayle’s 175 for Rockberry Bangalore against Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL.
With 17 T20s, three ODIs and two Tests for South Africa, Pretorius posted a remarkable strike rate of 237.97.
He raced to a half-century off 24 balls, requiring just 16 balls to complete his triple figure before accelerating past 90 after 58 deliveries.
Driven to collapse, the Titans chased down the target to 143 and secured an emphatic 124‑run win at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
