Even after raising its subscription prices last fall, HBO Max is looking to attract new viewers by offering a 7-day free trial through Amazon Prime Video. This timely promotion coincides with the highly anticipated premiere of “Lanterns” and the awards season campaigns for hit series such as “Hacks” and “The Pitt.”
While Amazon typically reserves major streaming promotions for Prime Day, this HBO Max offer is currently available to all Prime members without the need for a special promo code or contract. To claim the free trial, users must have an Amazon Prime account—which itself comes with a 30-day free trial—and navigate to the Prime Channels hub. From there, they can locate the HBO Max landing page and select the free trial option.
Existing Prime members can simply sign in and add an HBO Max subscription at no cost. Once the seven-day trial period concludes, the ad-supported plan will automatically renew at its standard rate of $10.99 per month.
There has never been a better moment to integrate HBO Max, recently rebranded from “Max”, into your Prime Video streaming lineup. The platform is featuring an exciting slate of new releases in 2026, including “DTF St. Louis”, the highly anticipated return of Lisa Kudrow’s “The Comeback”, and the “Big Bang Theory” spin-off, “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.”
Among the returning favorites this year are the third season of “The White Lotus” and the final season of “Euphoria.”
HBO Max is also home to hundreds of new films, including “Marty Supreme,” “The Drama,” “Wuthering Heights,” “We Live in Time,” “Dune: Part Two,” and “Joker Folie à Deux.” The library also features beloved classic series such as “The Sopranos,” “The Wire,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
Since HBO Max does not independently offer a free trial on its direct platform, this Prime Video deal represents one of the few opportunities to experience the streaming service for free. Prospective viewers should note that Amazon has previously removed such offers from its Prime streaming hub without advance notice, making it advisable to take advantage of the trial while it remains active.
Alternatively, viewers can access HBO Max for free through DirecTV, which includes a complimentary subscription with the streamer’s MyEntertainment Genre Pack. Plans start at $42.99 per month and provide access to over 60 live TV channels, along with free subscriptions to HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu.
