ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) concluded Friday’s trading session in bearish territory, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index declining 352.63 points, a negative shift of 0.21%, to close at 167,089.28. This represents a fall from the 167,441.91 points logged during the previous trading session. The ready market saw a contraction in activity, with trading volume dropping to 309.412 million shares from 365.870 million the day before, while traded value slipped to Rs15.438 billion from Rs17.722 billion. Consequently, total market capitalisation contracted to Rs18.569 trillion, down from Rs18.598 trillion recorded a day earlier. Sentiment was mixed across the sector; of the 497 companies traded in the ready market, 243 posted gains, 203 suffered losses, and 51 remained unchanged. Cnergyico PK led the volume charts with 27.277 million shares, followed by Pakistan Refinery Limited with 24.123 million shares and Treet Corporation Limited with 22.904 million shares. Among the top gainers, Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited surged by Rs67.77 to close at Rs745.47, while Sapphire Fibres Limited advanced by Rs39.44 to settle at Rs1,033.77. On the losing side, PIA Holding Company Limited declined by Rs683.50 to close at Rs14,494.00, while Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited fell by Rs344.99 to Rs25,055.01.
