ISLAMABAD, Jul 27 (APP): The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) posted a robust recovery on Monday, climbing 7,241.13 points—a gain of 4.23 percent—to finish at 178,262.34, up from 171,021.20 in the previous session, driven by widespread buying across major sectors.
Trading activity in the ready market reached 1.032 billion shares valued at Rs41.02 billion, compared with 579.945 million shares worth Rs23.896 billion the day before. Market capitalisation also rose to Rs20.021 trillion from Rs19.278 trillion.
Of the 496 companies traded, 409 advanced, 63 declined and 24 remained flat, underscoring the upbeat mood among investors.
WorldCall Telecom led the volume list with 135.86 million shares, followed by Trust Brokerage at 92.63 million shares and Cnergyico PK with 81.338 million shares.
Among the top gainers, PIA Holding Company Limited jumped Rs570 to close at Rs18,238, while Unilever Pakistan Foods added Rs289 to settle at Rs25,300.
On the decliners’ side, Thal Industries Corporation slipped Rs69.83 to end at Rs1,017.82, and Premier Sugar Mills fell Rs46.94 to Rs505.79.
In the futures (DFC) segment, turnover increased to 512.403 million shares worth Rs16.63 billion, up from 191.88 million shares valued at Rs7.511 billion in the prior session.
Out of 304 futures‑market constituents, 301 rose, two fell and one held steady.
