[Pakistan’s KSE‑100 Index Climbs Over 266 Points as Market Gains Momentum]
The benchmark KSE‑100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) rose sharply on Friday, posting a gain of 266.28 points (up 0.16%). The index closed at 170,765.22, up from 170,498.95 in the prior session.
Trading activity slowed this morning, with a volume of 482.759 million shares—well below the 759.974 million seen in the previous period. Total trading value consequently fell to Rs 19.284 billion versus Rs 27.540 billion one day ago.
Market capitalisation climbed to Rs 18.996 trillion, surpassing the 18.971 trillion level recorded the day before.
With 493 constituents active in the ready market, 219 companies posted gains, 217 experienced losses, and 57 showed little movement.
Leading the volume list was C energyco PK with 108.192 million shares traded, followed by WorldCall Telecom (28.943 million shares) and Pak Refinery (27.559 million shares).
Among the top performers, Sapphire Textile Mills Limited surged by Rs 143.12 to finish at Rs 1,618.12, while Unilever Pakistan recorded a steady rise.
Foods Limited edged higher by Rs 121.99, settling at Rs 24,982.00.
On the negative side, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited slipped by Rs 157.14 to close at Rs 8,842.86, and PIA Holding Co. dropped by Rs 70.05 to Rs 15,459.17.
In the DFC futures market, turnover reached 687.873 million shares, valued at Rs 27.171 billion, compared with 526.472 million shares worth Rs 21.617 billion in the last session.
Across the DFC segment, out of 319 listed firms, 132 advanced, 184 declined, and three remained flat.
