United States forward Christian Pulisic is expected to return from a lower back injury in time for AC Milan’s penultimate Serie A match this weekend. Pulisic, who missed Milan’s recent game against Atalanta, is currently enduring the longest goalless streak of his career. Having trained with the squad on Wednesday, he is likely to be available for selection by Rossoneri coach Massimiliano Allegri for Sunday’s away fixture at Genoa. Milan’s season will conclude the following week with a home match against Cagliari.
Pulisic has not found the net in his last 17 league appearances since December 28, nor in eight games for the U.S. national team. His potential return comes as AC Milan’s qualification for next season’s Champions League is in jeopardy following their 3-2 home defeat to Atalanta on Sunday. The Rossoneri currently hold fourth place, the final Champions League qualifying berth, level on points with fifth-placed Roma and just two points ahead of Como.
