Statistics New Zealand reported that retail sales volume fell 0.1% quarter‑on‑quarter in Q2 2026, following a 1.0% increase in Q1 (revised from 0.9%).
Analysts had expected a 0.1% decline for the month.
Excluding automobiles, retail sales rose 0.7% QoQ in Q2, compared with a prior increase of 1.1% (revised from 1.0%).
Market reaction
